Back by popular demand! Join us on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 10:00am to 1:00pm for an encore of our Organic Gardening 101 Workshop. Founder and Executive Director of Sweetwater Organic Community Farm, Rick Martinez, will host this workshop. Rick has been an organic farmer in the Tampa Bay Area for more than 25 years and helped to create the original organic regulations that govern the industry to this day.
In this three-hour workshop you’ll learn exactly what organic means and how to do your own organic gardening at home. Rick will cover soil health, composting techniques, seed selection and preparation, organic pest control methods, irrigation and much more! Whether you have a large plot or prefer container gardening, you’ll benefit from Rick’s extensive knowledge and experience. Each participant can bring a five-gallon (or smaller) container to fill with fresh Sweetwater compost to use for his or her home gardens.
There is a suggested donation of $35 to $45 for this workshop. Cash or check only please. This is an interactive outdoor workshop so please dress accordingly. Please contact Jenny Anderson with any questions or to RSVP by emailing outreach@sweetwater-organic.org.

0 Comments 0 FavoritesBy giving to Code Green Community you are contributing to a movement that is organizing the local bio-region of Tampa Bay to coordinate a localized shift in our economy towards a transition away from fossil fuels. This is an investment for the future. We are the ones we have been waiting for. These donations will be utilized to increase the effectiveness of our website and set-up future events and projects.
