Event Description

American Meat is a solutions-oriented macroscopic documentary surveying the current state of the U.S. meat industry.

It explains how America arrived at our current industrial system, and shows you the feedlots and confinement houses, not through hidden cameras but through the eyes of the farmers who live and work there. From there, it introduces the current revolution developing in animal husbandry, led by the charismatic and passionate Joel Salatin.

You will meet dozens of farmers across the country who have changed their lives to start grass-based farms, and learn about every day tangible solutions that people can take to change agriculture in America.

For more information, please visit http://www.americanmeatfilm.com.

A screening of the film will be followed by a panel of “local Joels”: farmers who are raising meat, eggs, and dairy locally and sustainably.

$5 at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds.

This event will also serve as a preview for Eat Local Week 2012, which will feature an appearance by the star of “American Meat,” Joel Salatin, on Thursday April 19th. Please visit http://eatlocalsarasota.com/week for more information.
