Currently, the most active part of this group is another Code Green Group called The Angelus (http://www.codegreencommunity.org/group/theangelus) We can have the Angelus either Monday or Friday night during the week and also on Saturday mornings when we meet to garden. I'd really like to start having more of a "transition" focus rather than simply a permaculture gardening purpose... but since we're a fairly new group, I'll take what I can get.
I'm hoping to get the local schools more involved as well as like minded businesses and any departments of the government with a similar purpose.

Comment by Stacey S. on February 7, 2011 at 9:12pm Drop Off Home Recycling at Northwest Elementary School. All year long you may bring your mixed paper (newspapers, magazines, cardboard, cereal boxes, and phonebooks) or cell phones & batteries.
The recycling dumpster for mixed paper is behind the cafeteria. Northwest will receive 100% of the revenue for all cardboard, mixed paper and newspaper that is recycled.

Comment by Stacey S. on December 14, 2010 at 10:38pm Having a meeting tomorrow with Joe from the Angelus. I'm looking to start a community garden and farmer's market there. They apparently have a greenhouse and have had gardening classes as well. I'll post a blog here as things progress. My main concern for garden design is that at least a portion of it has to be handicap accessible and should include therapeutic value as well.
I've had most success with raised beds anyway since the critters tend not to disrupt them as much. If all goes well, I will solicit volunteers, materials, and sponsors from the community. Anyone up for a dumpster dive?
Comment by Stacey S. on December 14, 2010 at 11:14am i have no intention of bagging out on you, eric! i just want to ALSO establish a group local to Hudson. i like the Hudson library... I'm just not to fond of Saturday mid day meetings but now that i'm employment free, i may change my mind. another option is the Angelus. They have fabulous meeting places both indoor and out.
Comment by Eric Stewart on December 14, 2010 at 1:21am I would love to help you establish a Transition in Hudson. I'll spend some time locating a area to host movies. Possibly do events at the Hudson library? If we coordinate perhaps we could time it separate (every 3rd sat of month meeting) to begin with. Then move it to weekly meetings later on. I would love if you could bring people and car pool still for now for the Gaia's till we get that established! Your such a rich knowledge source! <3 But obviously your want to start your own meeting at some place.
Purchase fresh local food from local growers in Tampa bay area. Check out our online local co-op market at:
