I was thinking about hosting a float for the Chaso fiesta. By participating we can raise awareness about our website and group in the New Port Richey area! Over 200,000 people come to Chasco fiesta from all over the county and state!

What do you think? I have my Green Ford ranger- if we can get a trailer and dress it up we can have people standing and waving with signs.

sounds good to me, lets see who has a trailer, we c ould be in the parade and then have a pot luck here in my yard. Maybe a barbecue. Barbara
I'm in. We have a single axle trailer about 14' long. I think it would work for a display but not sure if it would also hold many people. Best we walk anyway! Otherwise, our Tundra can fit a few bodies.
maybe we rent an electric car or hybrid...hahaha
Michael has an electric CAR we can show it off! Show off his Electric car group as well!
The Chasco fiesta parade is very strict with rules and regulations. If you decide to enter please be aware and keep in my the following:

The Regulations for The Chasco Fiesta Parade
A parade by its nature is an entertainment medium, and the contribution of each unit to this concept is critical. Artistic beauty, use of colors, animation, special effects, originality, rider personnel and visual appeal all come into play in determining the acceptability of the entry. Because of this “total show concept” OUR PARADE IS NOT A PLATFORM FOR POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS, SOCIAL ISSUES OR TARGETED SPECIAL GROUPS. NO ENTRY WILL BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE IF, IN THE JUDGMENT OF THE PARADE COMMITTEE, IT REFLECTS SUCH ISSUES. By making an application for entry, it is understood and agreed that the decision of the Parade Selection Committee is final.
3)
The Parade Selection Committee will approve all applications. Any and all sponsors (business, organizations, media, etc.) must be listed on the float application; however, listing more than one sponsor is discouraged and may not be accepted.
4)
Insurance coverage is mandatory for all parade participants. Please provide a certificate of insurance for: West Pasco Chamber of Commerce and the City of New Port Richey as additional insured’s.
5)
All units MUST be fully decorated. Flatbed trucks and automobiles with a few streamers and a business name are NOT acceptable. A VIOLATION OF THIS WILL RESULT IN THE ENTRY BEING BARRED FROM THIS PARADE AND FUTURE PARADES. Exceptions include antique cars, dignitaries’ cars and pickup vehicles of honor guard units.
6)
Walking units are limited to musical units, drill teams or unique units determined to have entertainment quality and approved by the parade selection committee.
12)
On arrival at the parade formation area, entries not conforming to the description on the application may be prohibited from participating in the parade. The Chasco parade officials will have the right to reject any parade entry that does not meet the parade standards and criteria. They will have the right to reject unacceptable units’ right up to the start of the parade

On a side note The NPR Holiday Parade is much less strict with there regulations and rules. It is smaller but does draw alot of people.
We are a cultural movement :) Transitioning away from fossil fuels is our culture. Doesn't Chasco support and promote cultural learning and exchanging of ideas?

I tottaly understand your enthusiasm. Just Remeber to keep to the theme and decorate the float.
Here is the cheapest website I have found so far that has supplies for float making

Thanks for the parade guidelines, MaDonna... IMHO, if we're green, we use recycled products for decoration or all natural leaves and twigs and Spanish moss. ;-) I have tons of palmettos... we can use the fronds like a tiki hut roof for the skirt. Can we bring chickens? I didn't see any rules against livestock...haha.
Keep the chicken on a leash haha!
not sure as there has been controversy about the parade regarding the indigenous of this country. this gentlemen Dan Callaghan callbookso@msn.com a member of the west pasco historical society, also a friend, who i want to invite into cgc, may shed some light on the subject.
How many of you have bicycles? Perhaps a bike parade? We could dress our bikes up with green messages and our website lol!
i think if there is a float in parade, it would have to be man powered. is there any rules against having a big platform that is moved by people? does it have to be using a car? we could all trade off every few blocks and push it along! .. too ambitious?
