I think this website can help the St. Pete group with sharing information. The idea of someone being an ambassador would be to relay information on Yahoo group (or a meetup group) to this community website about upcoming events and volunteer information. Maybe a blog about what you all are up to so other groups can be inspired by your activities or lend a hand.  I totally agree about the face to face organizing. The website is primarily as a means of transmitting information. So by transmitting any upcoming events you can allow anyone in the Tampa bay area to potentially travel to meet face to face.  I understand you all have a main website (yahoo group) not trying to say stop that , just seeking a way to cooperate so that we can bring multiple branches to a single trunk and form a singular vision cooperatively via online.

Eric, would you explain more about "ambassador" and how using this site, in addition to the Yahoo group, would help Transition St Petersburg?  I'm committed to face-to-face organizing primarily, with email/web as ways to facilitate those in-person meetings.

I'm looking for an ambassador to post for the Transition St. Pete group and moderate this group. You can have full access to edit the details of the group as well as add pages.  Thanks. Eric

I agree with Rebecca and Mary Ann. Transition and Gaia's Garden are different initiatives, though there is overlap. Some of us have attended Gaia's Garden in part because we were looking for others interested in Transition and thought we might find some there.

The transition group is to some extent growing out of that network but also out of other networks that have been developing.

beautifully said, Rebecca!  Eric, I am in no way belittling Gaia's Garden or the other wonderful things happening in St Pete.  Food production is key, as is awareness raising like my friends doing Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream symposiums, and working with Sunshine State Interfaith Power and Light (to get faith congregations involved).  What I am referring to is the overall Transition initiative.

We have an amazing goundwork going on and feel that the next step for those who wish is to study transition to see who feels like they can devote themselves enough to be part of the initiating group.  As of now we do not have that group and it has to be something each person decides for themselves.  We are hoping the study group will help each of us decide with full knowledge of what we are undertaking and with confidence in each other and ourselves.

What about the Gaia's Garden group? I would complement that as being the beginning of a Transition Initiative as you have raised the awareness! and worked on growing gardens in people's yards!  Don't belittle your group so quickly! I think we are on a journey o light and greatness, not of mediocrity and slowness myself.

Eric, we are only in the beginning stages of Transition St Petersburg, so,  please don't put it as one of the organizers.  I value the work you are offering re May 14-16; I also value taking one step at a time and building slowly.    As Rebecca commented, those who want to get a Transition Handbook Study group going will meet April 16 after movie at the Friends to firm up location and start date, etc.  We will likely start the 6 session study late May-early June.

Great! I would love to find out if one of you could make the Skype conversation about May 14th- 15th weekend event. More information can be found at www.tampabayfoodrevolution.com  would like to know if you would like to be put down for collaborating? Should I write Transition St. Petersburg under organizers?
