One ambitious way of getting a local food culture started is having local food coops where local farmers and buyers can do business online. One source of inspiration can be found from a local Homegrown Coop in Orlando. http://www.homegrowncoop.org/
Local Examples of coops
We could start up local coops throughout the Pasco county area as well as workshops to train people how to garden their lawns for profit. This will stimulate local businesses of people actively gardening vegetables for a living. A quick community approach towards creating home made cottage industry jobs for Pasco county citizens.

Permalink Reply by Stacey S. on June 22, 2011 at 6:11am Calling All Growers. The heat of summer is upon us but it's time to start thinking about preparing for the warm weather crops of September. Get your plots ready and start to prepare for planting seedlings in July. Come October, you can sell your produce online at www.pachamamagrowop.com. Or, if you're interested, come and swap food with others who have joined our local food revolution.

Permalink Reply by Eric Stewart on March 10, 2012 at 11:33am It has not taken off. There were 3 people involved but they all ended up having difficulties starting it up. I know Kira and Kacey the twins that are on the Environmental board of NPR are interested in starting up a farmers market/being apart of one. I brought up the Habitat for Humanity's site to them. It would be nice to see this re-start and actually happen.

Thanks. We got the go ahead at Habitat to expand the garden beyond the raised beds. Thus we are looking for an outlet to sell the surplus. Unfortunately the Farmers Market is not coming around as we had hoped.
If Kira and Kacey are still interested perhaps we can partner with them to get it going.
Rick

This is an investment for the future. We are the ones we have been waiting for. These donations will be utilized to increase the effectiveness of our website and set-up future events and projects.
