if you put it in the wrong place you just have to go to that place and plant something- (JK)

If you have a veggie garden and need mulch for ground cover, go to your local park and collect Spanish Moss! It is free and works just fine as mulch for your plants!

Feel free to share it to everyone. The more participation the better we are all off . Cooperation and sharing is the way towards abundance, its like doing what you told every kindergartner to do.

This is great Eric. Can you tell me how to spread the word in my neighborhood- where there are still a lot of fruit trees- via the local grade schools? This might be perfect to spur engagement....

Hi All,

We did update some of our code base today, but it shouldn't have disrupted this page display.  I saw the comments today, and had a look... First time visiting the site there were indeed no trees showing up; however, the second time I typed in the url everything is working fine.  Please try again and mail us directly at info@ediblecities.org if you still experience issues with the mapping app.

Your right, I think its being updated perhaps? It's been on and off all day. Again- I apologize this is a free open source app I found from another website so I have no operation or control over it. Its a cool idea and I feel if we give it support it could become much better over time and reliable.

What happened? There are no trees listed anymore

Hi All,

I am an EdibleCities.org founder; Fist off, thanks for all the interest and for contributing to the map.  You're awesome.

Now to address some of the comments:

If the map updates slowly, you can try accessing the map directly at www.ediblecities.org (will not start out centered on Tampa however).  Also, If you'd like more prompt responses to your issues and suggestions, plz. mail us directly at info@ediblecities.org.  Sam - I also started w/ a simple google map layer, but this map was created to be tailored to edibles (icons, legend).  Also, I had issues w/ my public map in that contributors could move or erase markers by mistake.

Tanjarose - We have disabled erase capabilities for the reasons outlined above; If you add a marker in the wrong place, just type 'test' in the notes field. We periodically curate the list and remove 'test' markers.

Best, Cristian

Mine finally showed up, must take awhile to update the map

so cool to see someone trying to do this, a friend and I had the idea several years ago of creating a google earth layer with pics. If this app proves too difficult, maybe that would be easier?

how do you remove it once it has been saved, if you put it in the wrong spot?

Comment by Eric Stewart on April 30, 2012 at 9:22pm

I contacted Edible Cities the app creator- they are working on expanding the list, making new icons, and generally making the map easy. Right now its the free app I found on the internet and thought it would be a fun way to use our crowd potential! I hope you enjoy the novelty of it and realize its all for Free so its not going to be the best. If you want the best you have to pay for it in Capitalism.

A list would be more helpful. Those little tags are not very user friendly

It doesn't work for me.
