In my quest for "Strategic Self Sufficiency" and Emergency Preparedness I have worked on many DIY projects that can help my family sustain ourselves during times of crisis. The Rocket Stove was the cheapest and easiest of them all. It took me less than an hour to gather the parts needed, cut and fit them together and assemble the stove. Have you seen the price of Bread lately? Big stores charge $2.50 and up for a loaf. You can get it cheaper than that at discount stores but... taste is poor at best. And at the cheaper stores you only have 1-2 choices at most.

Nothing taste better (or is better for you) than growing and eating your own fresh vegetables. I got off to a late start this Fall but have still managed a great harvest of Green Beans. I stuffed a 4'X8" raised bed with Dragon Tongue bush beans and then decided to add about a dozen Kentucky Wonder pole beans grown in large pots around the garden. Both taste wonderful fresh picked. We have gotten 8 or 10 meals out of them so far for my family of three. Growing both types gives you a lot…
