Pasco County Ordinance needs changing on Chickens.

I recently received this ordinance violation. $500 fine for owning fowl on a R-4 property. I have 7 days to remove. I called up the officer and left a message for her to call back. I will be fighting this to make a point and bring about change in the Ordinance.

I wanted your input and help. Presently the next scheduled hearing 7/13 in Dade city…

August Fundraiser

We're holding a fund-raiser to raise the money needed to make Code Green

Community a non-profit organization. It will be a plant/bake/recycle

sale to be held on Sunday, Aug. 1 in New Port Richey.

We're requesting the help of all members in contributing whatever you

can for this event.

For the plant sale, we'd like to get some of you to start some seeds in

peat pots in the next week or so, in order to have some nice seedlings

To The Desk Of Timothy. Signed, Mother Nature. - freepinellas.wordpress.com

Since I have been so absent from this blog which I love, I must post something to show the love I feel. The love I feel for what I do, for the people I may never meet, and the possibilities of a new world built from the ground up by people with the same heart, intelligence, and faith as the fathers of this country. The following is a personal piece of my life.

I have been a pretty paranoid person most of my life. I have always been…

Government elections for 2010

One of the things we as a community can begin to do is take on an initiative to seek government officials that will progress the sustainability movement in our local area. Many people are running for the 2010 elections here in Florida and we can put ourselves out as a group to locate and organize a meeting with them. I wanted to put this out there to get people's responses and find who knows who's running for office in our area?

I live in Florida house district… Continue

Holiday Lutheran Church Community Garden

I've been starting a community garden in my local neighborhood with a church just down the road from me. I feel its important to get the word out about how we can grow our own food, or at least part of it, from community and individual gardens.

I feel we can make an impact on how much oil we use by localizing our food system one meal at a time. If Just one meal can come from your back yard a week your making an impact on our overall fossil fuel use. This can motivate you to further… Continue

Dragonflies Eat Mosquitoes by Ro Wauer

With all of our wet weather of late, we are certain to experience a greater than normal mosquito population. These little annoying insects breed in every conceivable place with standing water, and spraying/fogging of various insecticides can only keep the mosquito numbers at a reasonably low number. Also important for reducing mosquitoes are various natural predators, especially dragonflies that also increase… Continue

Pinellas County Green Living Expo - freepinellas.wordpress.com

I spent yesterday at the St. Pete Coliseum for the green exposition. It featured vendors from all walks of the sustainability spectrum and while I spent four hours there, I did not get around to all the booths. So, I will have to tell you about the four main stalls that I took the time to speak with the operators. These stalls, coincidentally, touch on the main aspects of my blog: green business, green living, human sustainability, and green…

my semi-transition..

I say semi, because I have always felt the need to save and not waste as well as reuse. But as of late, I have become increasingly aware of the potential we have as individuals. I feel that there can be a healthy non obsessive way to help our environment and reduce our waste. That coupled with finding more renewable resources in the first place, is a serious power play combination. We have the ability to help ourselves. An idea i think we have to get used to again.

Makeshift rain barrel.

I was thinking of buying a rain barrel when I found two tree size planting pots next to our dumpster. They both had rims about an inch wide, so I set one on the ground right side up and put the other one on top, upside down, then used small bolts to fasten them together. Then I cut out the top and lined it with a very heavy plastic bag, taping it at the top. Also made a plywood cover for it, with a screened over a hole for the water to enter from the downspout. I like being… Continue
