Hi community,
In the past week I was reflecting on the past year and how much influence the bloggers Eric and Anna have been on me. I read most of the content that comes on the website and it was great to find bloggers that understood how powerful their story was. All of our stories intertwining and coming together weave this community.
This is their 12 months of Change:
January-unprocessed food (no more than 2 steps in the processing, no preservatives)
February-no spending month (no money spent except for housing and utilities)
March-unplug month (only one appliance on the grid and we all vote for the fridge/freezer)
April-alternative transportation (buses and bikes and feet, oh my!)
May-no plastic brought into the house (seriously, think about that…..)
June-alternative income (everything we can come up with to make a buck or barter for our needs besides our jobs)
July-volunteer month (WWOOF farm?)
August-alternative cooking (solar oven, cook boxes, etc)
September-primitive skills (gun safety, fire starting, animal harvesting, foraging)
October-local products/shops only (is ABC Liquor really Florida owned?? I need to know!)
November-no garbage (nothing goes in the dumpster)
December-no entertainment except for what we create

What changes can you make this year? What would you come up with for your own 12 months of change?
My first change of the year for myself has been to start a vegetarian diet. I'm going to get rid of meat slowly out of my diet for two months and then re-evaluate my diet. I want to post the progress and what happens along the way. I hope everyone takes this new year to empower themselves and the community by challenging themselves to trying something new with their lives and starting a new habit. I heard once it takes 3 days to start a habit and 90 days to lose it! Start some sustainable habits this year and make them your lifestyle! Spread your achievement by blogging about it and using the tools of Code Green Community to share your changes with the community. Take photos, take videos, create your own blogs, and share it all on your Community!

Comment by Loretta Buckner on January 11, 2012 at 11:03am Good for you, Eric! You might want to consider some sort of cleanse to jump-start your new diet--it will clear the muck out of your digestive system more quickly, which really gives you a boost!
Comment by donna on January 9, 2012 at 12:22am I love their blog and calender of changes, as well as your new resolution Eric! Their calender is a good reminder for me. Several of those changes are already a part of my everyday life, and several I need to put into effect asap. Thanks!
