Earth day poetry
Here we are
a pale blue dot when seen from other planets in our solar system
a mote of dust hanging in the wind of space together on a living space ship
This spaceship carries several trillion living organisms all working to create
conditions of living for each other. Never with a dollar required to barter with them
Birds flying, bee’s buzzing, tree’s making oxygen for our living space ship
But here we are all 7 billion humans living different then the rest
destroying, cultivating, civilizing the world because we feel we are the best
making it into our own image, while our economy acts like the titanic ship
losing our minds in the process, no one is really normal upstairs,
The constant struggle for sustenance in the form of fiat money
fake units of exchange in short supply and uneven spread
living this way is not normal, always egological rather than ecological
__Do not be woebegone___
For here we are with so many stories to tell of where to go
On the edge, the most diverse of places to be
The industrial society or the ecofuture we would like to see
waking up to the illusion, and resisting confusion
this great earth is abundant for alls needs, but not alls greed
taking care of our bodies and our souls
loving ourselves first and foremost but
loving each other to share the surplus of love that is always available
There is no time for pessimism or complaints
Our ephemeral lives just cannot wait, Living life is quintessential
Just get your hands dirty and play in the rain
Its all just a ride and we can change it at any time
just take off the gas pedal and put on the breaks
With our heads, our hands, and our hearts
we can extend to each other and future people
an abundant living space ship for generations to come
a home for all and together explore space forever

Comment by John Hanna on April 21, 2012 at 8:54pm Oh, I was just trying to be amusing.
I agree entirely that we should work together, reexamine our value systems and do it from the ground up.
One thing 'wrong' with out economy is that 'they' can't get us to work hard all day every day just to get some crap that advertising told us was necessary.
Housing isn't all that tough but mortgages are horrible - why not live with a dirt floor until you can afford concrete and then hardwood or what about a thatched roof until you can save up for trusses? Try keeping your children in suburbia with that attitude.
Comment by Eric Stewart on April 21, 2012 at 2:52pm I don't necessarily mean communes, I think the future will be about us realizing we are a large extended family that needs support. It can mean that hundreds of people help you rathern then just your family. It means that people are there to support you and see you get through to your dreams and aspirations rather then everyone singularly wanting only their own dreams to be fulfilled. I think the future and what Earth Day signifies to me is we recognize we are on this singular planet together so we should all unite and act like it. It is but the inevitability of the manifest destiny our nation has to but to one day there would be a United people of the Planet but it be from the grassroots up rather then a central thing down. The internet can create such a framework for collaboration- we can unite and communicate, share our ideas, our thoughts, our concepts, and work towards a manifest destiny for our local bio-regions needs and support one another in the process.

Living in communes is actually a lot of work but I bet it can be very rewarding.
But what if the guy in number four decided he will provide rap all day, loudly, that is his gift, while I weed.?
